Behavior and character: Non-barking, produces unusual yodel-like sounds mixed with laughing. Natty, intelligent, independent, loyal and alert. May be disloyal to unfamiliar individuals.
Head: High placed. Wrinkles on forehead; more pronounced to puppies. Wrinkles are less pronounced to three-colored species because of less shading.
Skull part: Flat, good shaped and medium with, tapering towards the nose. Side lines of skull gradually form a cone towards mouth. The transition from forehead to muzzle is insignificant.
Nose tip: Desirable in black color
Jaws and teeth: Strong jaws with perfect and complete scissor bait.
Eyes: dark, almond shaped.
Ears: small, fine structure, pointed, erect and slightly turned forward. Ear tips are not close to each other.
Neck: Long, without a pronounced bulge. Wither in a graceful curve. Easy-filled base of the neck. Well-built shoulders provide effect of proudly raised head.
Body: proportional. Back from wither to the waist is short. Waist part is short. Deep oval shaped chest. Lower part line leads to expressed waist.
Tail: high placed in a shape of single or double ring. Tail is tightly fits to rear part of back.
Front limbs: straight with fine bones. Legs are in straight line to the ground. Shoulders are relaxed and muscular. Elbows cling to the chest. Watching from the front it is possible to see that elbows are in level of ribs. Long forearm.
Rear limbs: Strong, muscular. The knee joint is slightly bent. Long thighs.
Paws: small, narrow and compact with deep pads and curved fingers.
Movement: moving forward by quick and wide steps. During movement limbs are straight.
Hair: short, smooth, dense and very fine.
Color: black and white; dark or bright ginger and white; tricolor – black, ginger and white; tiger type – ginger base with black stripes. White spots should be on paws, chest and end of tail. White legs, white spots on head and neck are optional.
Height: Perfect height for wither: male – 43 cm; female – 40 cm.
Weight: Perfect weight: male – 11 kg; female – 9.5 kg.
